The 7 Secrets of Successful Decisions:
Making right strategic decisions
(Course Code: VTLANCSDM)

Introduction

Have you ever been faced with a difficult decision that kept you trapped in inaction? After all the analysis, all the pondering, all the discussions, did you still find yourself at the crossroads? What makes for this indecision and how do we overcome that?

Many executives — those who are just stepping up as well as those who have been in the game for a while — face these challenges frequently and wonder if there is indeed a way to make the right decision every time.

The good news is that there is a way to make the right decision every time. And this is the basis for the Sloan-MIT research conducted by Luda Kopeikina in 2005 and published by Prentiss-Hall under the same title. What this research uncovered was that people need a way of handling both emotion and reason, of separating fact from assumptions, and of clarifying the different perspectives impacting on the situation. This resulted in the Clarity-State Decision Making™ Programme, which has helped countless CEOs and senior managers in all organisations, get greater clarity and zero-in on the right decision every time.

  • Learn novel techniques to develop more and better options, thereby opening up to new and innovative directions;
  • Heed your intuition by looking at the emotions that may be holding you back or pushing you forward;
  • Apply creative tension in stretching and relaxing your assumptions and constraints, thereby giving you a whole new perspective on your decision and the desired outcome;

What some participants say about the workshop

Working on a situation I had, the methodology had helped to identify constraints and assumptions that enabled me to make the decision with greater confidence. I also have a better understanding now on how the relationship among decision question, decision objective, constraints, assumptions, emotion and perspective impacts the identification and selection of the “right” option. I think your approach of working on real situation (with important decision to make) is an effective way to learn the methodology. Thank you.”
Tan C.C., Associate Director, High Performance Computing

“Thanks for being the excellent and authentic facilitator for us …. over the past few days. It was certainly an intensive but enriching 2.5 days spent away from work. I feel that it has equipped me with a sound methodology in approaching difficult decisions.”

A. Lee, Asst Manager, NUS

The course has provided very useful methodology to making decisions and to challenge every single constraint, option and assumption so that they can be fine-tuned and used for effective decision making.”

“The trainer was able to present and explain the process clearly but yet not too overwhelming. It was a good course with very good practical examples thrown in for better understanding.”
